mountune Roll Restrictor / Rear Motor Mount - Focus ST / RS

The mountune roll-restrictor / RMM reduces the amount of engine roll/movement during hard acceleration and gear changing. With a product such as this, care must be taken with the design and choice of materials, as a poor design can destroy the feel and driving experience of the car. With an extensive background working in the OEM market, mountune have the knowledge and engineering expertise to create a product which can reduce the engine movement by the desired amount, but with minimal effect to the NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) level.

The mountune roll restrictor is machined from high quality aluminum, and features a unique size and shore hardness polyurethane bushing engineered to control with horizontal plane NVH. The bonus of using polyurethane is that not only has it been engineered to give increased stiffness without causing excessive vibrations, it also doesn’t deteriorate like rubber does, so the service life of the component is greatly increased.

  • High quality anodized billet aluminum body
  • Polyurethane bushing
  • Reduction in engine movement
  • Minimal effect on NVH

I love it this is the best mod that can be done, completely changes the way the car drives and it doesn't add harshness. You can feel everything your motor is doing, and you cant feel it bashing against the firewall anymore hooray!

Rear Motor Mount on my 2015 Focus ST3 w/MR300 August 25, 2016
Reviewer: Shawn Adams - Adame Motorsports from Edmond, OK United States
If you own an ST this is the first mod you need to do.  Face it we all like to launch our cars, well that "THUNK" you just heard was your motor wanting to join you in the cabin.

The Mountune RMM is solid engineering, the install is easy and fairly basic.

I run autocross and track events, and with the stock RMM during sudden acceleration, you could hear the engine slamming into the firewall (even outside the car as a spectator).  Since adding the Mountune RMM I have seen a decrease in  torque steer and wheel hop, no trace of the engine hitting the firewall.  There is a bit of an increased engine vibration, but far from being anything extreme.

Completely satisfied!

Feels like a different car August 15, 2016
Reviewer: Jon Hohol from Southworth, WA United States
I would have never described the ST's shifter and vague or sloppy but after installing the roll restrictor/RMM, the car feels great. The engine feels directly attached to the engine and you feel it in the shifter. There is a little vibration on start up but I've only had mine in for a few hundred miles and it already feels normal to me now. Love how it feels now.

Installed on 2015, but some notable differences July 30, 2016
Reviewer: Ken from WA United States
Summary:  good part, does increase NVH below 900rpm (at idle, basically).  NVH decreases once engine is in powerband.

Notable differences from instructions:  there are four bolts to be removed on the 2015 just for the motor mount bracket, but five nuts have to be removed from a secondary support bracket mounted to this one.  Easy enough to figure out, but definitely not the same as the instructions.

Driving notes:
* Note:  also have the strut tower brace installed.
* Torque steer reduced notably over stock mount
* While not eliminated, torque steer is far more manageable than stock.  In Sport mode, the stock differential doesn't lock and pull hard one way or the other
* While NVH is increased at idle, it's actually a bit nice because you have a better sense that a motor is on the other side of the firewall, and one that will be happy to help you sort out your tire situation for you...
